2021 Day of Remembrance

2021 Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance Candlelight Vigil
November 20, 2021, 6:30 pm
Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 2620 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95816

Special thanks to our sponsors: Trinity Cathedral, PFLAG Sacramento, The Gender Health Center, The River City Gems and to many others for their generous support of our previous Vigils.

This 23rd International Transgender Day of Remembrance memorializes those who have lost their lives due to their actual or perceived gender identity and expression. The first memorial was a candlelight vigil held in Boston in November 1999 to honor Rita Hester, murdered in 1998. Since then, annual memorials have been observed around the world around November 20. Since 2005, our support group has held an Annual Candlelight Vigil in Sacramento in observance of the International Transgender Day of Remembrance on a Saturday near November 20. People of all traditions are welcome to this inclusive community memorial.

Covid-19 precautions: In accordance with Sacramento County health ordinance, attendees should wear a protective mask and have no signs of Covid-19 illness or recent contact with Covid-19.
For those who cannot attend, this event will also be live streamed via

In September, 2008, the tragic death of Ruby Molina shook our Sacramento community. This event will pay respect to her memory among our many brothers and sisters who have fallen to ignorance and intolerance. Please contact the Sacramento Police Department if you have any information that may help the investigation into Ruby's death.
